Can I use a smartphone on T-Mobile monthly plan without purchasing a data plan?
I am looking to get a phone for my teenage son from T Mobile. I am planning to go with the $15 monthly unlimited texting plan. I am not doing a contract, just this text month to month one. This will be used for texting his friends but he wants a smartphone because they are " cooler looking" . We have wifi in our home so if he did want to play with it he could connect right to that instead of the network. If I purchase an unlocked phone from eBay will I have to add a data plan? Thanks

What is a value-priced smartphone that can be used with TMobile?
I've never used a smartphone and know nothing about them but it's time to start I am an avid Microsoft Office user, and I believe it would be very useful for me to be able to view and edit Word, Excel, and emails on the smartphone. The cell carrier will be TMobile using the Straight Talk plan offered through WalMart.I saw a phone LG Optimus One for this at WalMart that offered MiFi for about $143 with no contract. That MiFi would allow me easily use my laptop while I am mobile while staying connected to the internet. It has the Android 2.2 operating system.Anything jump out at you about all this?
I want a smartphone but I can't seem to find the right one.?
I want a phone with mobile hotspot. I don't care about anything else as long as it has mobile hotspot. I just can't seem to find any phone companies or services that have what I want. I want unlimited talk, text, and data. I want truely unlimited data, because I use a lot of data. But I can't find any company that has what I want. Help please.I do k12 school and at the place i'm going to be living there is no way to get fast internet there so i'm looking for an alternative but i'm not sure how much data I use in a month so i'm looking for umlimited data. I can't find any services that give truely unlimited data. If theres no way to get a phone that will give me unlimited data anything will do such as a mobile hotspot device or one of those stick things you plug into your laptop.
Does idea's 3G smartphone(Rs.5850) support vodafone Sim card?
Is there a trick to getting 3G or mobile internet without a smartphone data plan?
My boyfriend just got an android phone & I was wondering if there was anyway, by rooting it, if he could get internet without paying the extra $25 a month. NOT including Wi Fi. He has the regular prepaid, unlimited everything for AT& T. But the internet won't work unless he get's a special data plan. I've always jailbroken my iPhones, which has saved me from paying for tethering plans & much more.
What type of smartphone is better...android, blackberry, or iPhone?
Should I pay for a Smartphone if I have a work Blackberry for free?
Is there any point in having two smartphones? I have a company Blackberry with unlimited data Sprint that I carry around with me most of the time. My personal phone is an old, crappy flip phone from 2008 Verizon that needs to be upgraded badly. I'm interested in getting a Smartphone Droid, iphone etc but can't decide if it makes sense to spend $30 more per month for a data plan when I already have free internet access on my work Blackberry that's with most of the time anyway. Any thoughts? ALSO I do live in a major city where Verizon 4G access is available if I wanted a 4G phone for my personal use .
New Smartphone? Help!!?
Hey Guys,I'm wanting to upgrade my phone to a smartphone but I am bound by a budget. Around $450 $550. So I made a list and was hoping someone could guide me. LG Optimus 2X although I know it's fairly old now, which means it's probably the cheapest out of the phones I'm considering. Samsung Galaxy S Samsung Galaxy S2 though I doubt I'd find one for my budget Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc Arc S though I've read the Arc S is just overpriced by about $50 and there really isn't much difference between a 1GHz and a 1.4GHz. LG Optimus BlackHow would you rate these phones?I kinda need some help as to which one to go for. I guess there might be other brands too, eg HTC and Motorola but I haven't really looked into them. Any suggestions? I've been inclining toward the Xperia Arc tbh, because it is fairly new about 5 6months old, as opposed to the G2X and the Galaxy S. Love to hear any recommendations though Thanks
